I really need some advice

There is a boy who I think is really hot but I know a girl who really likes him but he doesn’t like her. I don’t know if he likes me but I have heard he does and we seem to get on real well as mates though, if I ask him out and he says no I will be humiliated and the friendship will be ruined, BUT if I end up asking him just to see if he likes me or not and he says yes that girl would hate me forever and she will never forgive me. You see I really don’t know what to do because every thing I have said in the paragraph above is negative?????? I'm soooo confused.
